This Sunday June 21 is the annual celebration of International Yoga Day, and those who find themselves in Almería capital for it have a series of activities taking place all day long in the Parque Nicolás Salmerón park that go well beyond just yoga classes!

 

From 9am until 8pm, there will be sessions based around devotional music, chanting of mantras and guided meditation, as well as (of course!) Hatha yoga classes. Vegetarian food will be provided on the day by the Lakshmi Indian restaurant in Retamar.

The day's events are being organised by a coalition of the Almería sports department, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the Indian Embassy in Spain and the Templo de Krishna temple located in Almería province, a centre dedicated to the spread of Bhakti Yoga and which hosts and helps to organise many yoga events and devotional activities locally.

 

Representatives from the Templo de Krishna said, "Yoga means union, and when we come together through service, awareness and love, we create something truly beautiful. Your presence is important. Come and be part of this celebration of harmony, wellbeing and unity!"

 

Located near the city’s port and close to the centre of Almería, the Nicolás Salmerón park is a leafy, shady oasis with plenty of water fountains and where there is generally a cooling breeze blowing – the perfect place to enjoy open-air activities to celebrate International Yoga Day 2026!

 

Just remember to take sun cream, a sun hat and water, because it could be very hot on the day!
