Jumilla continues to increase recycling levels year on year
The latest figures show the spared of recycling awareness in Jumilla
Wednesday May 17 was, as alert readers will have noticed, World Recycling Day, and the Town Hall of Jumilla marked the occasion by highlighting the progress made in recent times in increasing recycling levels.
In 2022, according to Councillor Juan Gil, the amount of paper and cardboard collected in Jumilla’s blue recycling containers came to 346.5 tons, equivalent to around 14.5 kilos per person, while a further 90.4 tons came from businesses in the area (an increase of 7 per cent over the previous year).
248.5 tons were collected in the yellow plastics containers, while a further 471.4 tons accrued in the green glass containers.
In other fields, the council collected 3,617 litres of used cooking oil, 338 kilos of dead batteries and 60 tons of shoes, clothes and toys, while the Ecoparque (click for map) was used by 5,432 people during the year, leaving 12% more material for recycling than in 2021.
The council reminds people that large unwanted household items can be collected by municipal staff – call 968 716151.
