Humid days and tropical nights: Alicante weekend weather forecast August 21-24
Clouds and some showers in places today and tomorrow but a sunnier weekend in store
Showers and some storms north of Alicante city this morning
Since the final day of the heatwave on Monday, high humidity has made temperatures in Alicante province feel as though they have not dropped as much as they actually have.
This moisture is bringing some showers to the north and cloudier afternoons all over the province until the weekend, when state meteorological agency Aemet forecasts slightly higher maximum temperatures and clearer skies.
Thursday, August 21
High humidity makes the heat feel hotter
After some stormy showers in the north of the province before dawn today, a few more may be in the area this morning and even this afternoon around Jávea and Denia.
There will be cloudy intervals throughout the day all over Alicante province, so that moisture in the air will mean that although maximum temperatures remain much lower than the weekend, it will still feel a bit hotter than thermometers are indicating.
The highs remain relatively unchanged from yesterday, between 28ºC and 32ºC, but the wind will get up this afternoon bringing moderate easterly breezes to the coast.
Minimum temperatures remain stuck around an uncomfortable 23-24ºC near the coast but are dropping below 20ºC farther inland.
Friday, August 22
More showers and some thunderstorms are likely later on
The skies will be much clearer in the morning but cloudiness will develop as the day goes on and there could be the odd shower in the afternoon.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are set to remain relatively unchanged in most areas of the province, with only a few inland areas seeing slightly cooler highs.
The wind will again be light and variable in the morning, giving way to a south-easterly breeze around lunchtime and more moderate breezes around the coast in the afternoon.
Saturday, August 23
Maximum and minimum temperatures for Saturday
The weekend is not expected to bring any significant changes to the weather with maximum and minimum temperatures, and winds likely to be similar to the previous couple of days, but mercifully less humidity earlier on.
Cloudy intervals are likely to increase in the afternoon but there is little to no probability of precipitation in the province.
Sunday, August 25
The sunshine will probably disappear as the afternoon progresses
Sunday is looking to be a little hotter, up to 32ºC in many coastal areas and 33-34ºC inland.
The skies are predicted to be mostly quite clear, with high clouds in the afternoon and much thicker cloud moving in all over the province from around 6pm.
