Heavy rain and storms continue this week: Alicante weather May 22-25
Aemet has activated a yellow warning for storms in Alicante province on Tuesday May 23 that could dump up to 30 litres of rainfall in an hour
Most of Alicante province experienced a weekend of showers and storms over the weeknd, and this atmospheric instability looks set to continue this week. In fact, the State Meteorological Agency has activated a yellow warning for risk of heavy rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday, which will be reinforced by sea winds and could leave accumulated rainfall of between 20 and 30 litres per m2 in an hour.
While there are so far no weather warnings in place for the rest of the week, the province can expect further meteorological instability, overcast skies and showers with temperatures no higher than 25℃.
The outlook for Monday May 22 is cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms, although locally heavy showers not ruled out. Minimum temperatures will rise while daytime temperatures will fall. On the coast, a moderate northeast wind is forecast; light to moderate easterly winds elsewhere.

Aemet has activated a yellow warning for heavy and persistent rain with thunderstorms on Tuesday May 23. Temperatures are unlikely to alter noticeably, and a light northeasterly wind will prevail in coastal areas; moderate east and northeasterly winds in the rest of the province.

Wednesday May 24 is shaping up to be cloudy with locally heavy showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures may rise by a couple of degrees, accompanied by light winds from the east and northeast.

Denia: 14℃ to 21℃
Elche: 14℃ to 22℃
Orihuela: 15℃ to 22℃
Thursday May 25 will get off to a lightly cloudy start, and it will become more overcast as the day progresses with showers and thunderstorms in the interior from midday. These storms could spread to coastal areas from mid-afternoon. On the plus side, maximum temperatures will rise. A westerly wind will tend towards southerly on the coast from around 12 noon.
