ARCHIVED - Heavy rains and hailstorms: Alicante weather forecast May 2-5
Yellow weather warnings in place for the Valencian Community for several days this week
The unpredictable spring-time weather has followed the province of Alicante into May, where heavy rain accompanied by occasional storms is forecast for the beginning of the week. Temperatures will drop for the most part, although they will remain more stable along the coast, and Aemet doesn’t predict a return of the sunshine until next weekend.
Monday May 2
Monday will dawn overcast in Alicante and the rest of the Valencian Community, with the cloud cover increasing as the day progresses. From 12 noon, a yellow weather alert is in place for Castellón and Valencia until 10pm, where hail storms are forecast which could leave up to 20 litres of rain per hour. The rain will likely spread to Alicante later in the day although day-time temperatures will only fall slightly.
Tuesday May 3
The yellow weather alert will extend to northern Alicante on Tuesday with abundant rainfall of up to 60 litres forecast in 12 hours. The maximum temperatures will begin to decline and will top off at around 20ºC.
Wednesday May 4
Although there are no weather warnings in place for Wednesday at the moment, Aemet has indicated that the day will be cloudy for the most part, improving slightly as the day goes on. Showers are expected in Alicante which could turn stormy in the northern part of the province and during the evening the rain will spread more weakly to the rest of the Valencian Community.
Thursday May 5
Another cloudy day for the Valencian Community with isolated showers forecast in the afternoon. Day time temperatures are on the rise once more while along the coast, moderate north and northeasterly winds will blow.
