The mercury will progressively rise across Alicante province to reach its zenith on Thursday
The new August heatwave is just around the corner and while the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) hasn’t issued any weather alerts for Alicante province, it has forecast particularly high temperatures mid-week in the south and inland areas.
By Wednesday, the thermometers will reach around 40ºC throughout the province, with interior points hitting a sweltering 45ºC. However, this latest heatwave will build in a gradual way, with the week beginning relatively cool and heating up as the days go on.
Monday August 7
There will be a cloudy start to the day along the coast with a chance of light rain early on while inland areas should dawn mostly clear. Daytime temperatures will dip slightly compared to the weekend, topping out in the low 30s. An easterly or southeasterly wind will be generally light, a little stronger on the coast.

Alcoy: 18ºC to 31ºC
Alicante: 23ºC to 31ºC
Denia: 23ºC to 29ºC
Elche: 21ºC to 31ºC

Tuesday August 8
Daytime temperatures will begin to climb on Tuesday although the night should remain relatively comfortable. Morning intervals of low clouds inland will build as the day goes while along the coast a light southeasterly breeze will continue to bring some relief from the heat.

Wednesday August 9
