Half price train tickets for 18-30 year olds in Spain
The discount rail scheme applies to all Europeans and will run until September 15
In another bid to make travel throughout Spain more affordable, the country’s main rail operator has launched a summer discount scheme for younger people aged between 18 and 30, inclusive. Tickets went on sale on Monday June 6 and offer passengers 50% off all AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Intercity and Euromed trains, up to a maximum saving of 30 euros.
The 50% bonus also applies to single Avant trips while customers of Media Distancia and Adif’s local metric gauge network can enjoy savings of 90%.
Another novelty this year is that Renfe Viajeros will apply a 50% discount to the price of Interrail Passes for travel around Europe (global flexible Interrail pass for ten days in two months).
The discounts are open to any young Europeans who are resident in Spain and although the tickets are on sale now, they are valid for travel between June 15 and September 15 this year.
To avail themselves of the cheap travel, passengers must register on the Mitma (Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda) website and complete a form to prove they meet the requirements (born between 1993 and 2005).
Registration must be completed at least 24 hours before booking a train ticket, and customers will be given a non-transferable code that they can use when purchasing an Interrail Pass or discounted train fare.
In addition to the myriad of bonuses on offer for 18 to 20 year olds this summer, all Más Renfe members will get every third ticket booked for free.
