Hail this Thursday, then 29 degrees on Sunday: Murcia weekend weather forecast May 15-18

The weather will swing from one extreme to the other this weekend – from the hail we have had all week to beautiful sunny skies

It’s going to be a gorgeous, sunny weekend in the Region of Murcia, perfect beach weather with clear skies and temperatures up to almost 30ºC in parts. But before that, the entire Region is on yellow alert from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) once again for heavy rain with the chance of hail this Thursday May 15.

Between the hours of 12 noon and 8pm this Thursday, every part of Murcia – as well as Alicante to the east and Almería to the west – is under a yellow warning for the chance of up to 15mm of rainfall per hour and storms accompanied by hail, according to Aemet, though it will not be very windy and temperatures will steal reach up to around 20ºC in most parts during the day.

From Friday 16 onwards, Aemet forecasts the rain, hail and storms to stop (no doubt a relief to Murcia’s farmer, who have seen crop damage to the tune of an estimated €80 million) and the sun to come back out, providing a glorious summery day.

These sunny conditions are set to continue all weekend long, with only some high cloud cover on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 and gentle breezes blowing. While minimum temperatures at night remain around 10-12ºC in the north and 13-15ºC in the south, maximum temperatures will be on the rise, up to 29ºC in central Murcia, Alhama and Totana by Sunday.

Looking ahead to the start of next week, Aemet forecasts cloudier conditions and the chance of a return of the rain in parts of northern Murcia.
