ARCHIVED - Fundraiser in aid of Costa Blanca horse rescue centre: November 20
Rojales-based Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre in the Vega Baja, Alicante province, desperately needs new transport to continue its vital work
An evening of live music, flea market and stalls will be held in Rojales on November 20 to raise much-needed funds for Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre which desperately needs new transport to continue rescuing and caring for neglected horses and donkeys.
The fundraiser will be held at Casa Contenta in Avenida Justo Quesada on Saturday November 20 from 8pm, where there will be a flea market and stalls selling the centre's merchandise and other goods, followed by live music courtesy of The Blades band.
"We really need donations to replace our old vehicle before it breaks down completely, leaving us unable to rescue more equines or take one to the veterinary hospital in an emergency. Another problem is that it is a high-emission vehicle and for ecological reasons, it is already forbidden to drive in some parts of Spain.
"You have already helped us raise over 1,600 euros, which is fantastic. We are very grateful!" said the rescue centre.
Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre was co-founded by Sue and Rod Weeding in 2008 to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain.
"We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives. Maybe you can't change the world by saving one horse, but you can change the whole world for the horse that you save," explained the couple.
Tickets for the fundraiser cost 10 euros, including a buffet, and are available at Casa Contenta, the Post Box Doña Pepa, and the Easy Horse Care charity shop Quesada Avenida Naciones. All proceeds will go to the non-profit organisation.
