ARCHIVED - From record high temperatures to a dramatic drop this weekend: Alicante weather March 30-Apr 2
The mercury will drop as much as 10ºC in parts of Alicante province between Thursday and Sunday

High pressures will continue to dominate most of Spain over the next couple of days and while a storm in the Azores on Thursday March 30 will bring rain to the north of the country, the warm gusts will ramp the temperatures up as much as 12ºC higher than normal for this time of year in Alicante.
"Maximum temperature records can be recorded for the month of March in the province of Alicante between Thursday and Friday. But as of Saturday temperatures drop and with the entry of cold air in the middle and lower layers, we will return to more normal values with the beginning of April, but without rain until the middle of next week," explained meteorologist Lluís Francés.
Beginning on Thursday, the winds will shift to the west and temperatures will skyrocket, with daytime values that could exceed 30ºC. Night-time temperatures will also rise and while there will be morning mists in coastal areas the day will remain mostly clear or slightly cloudy.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday

Alicante: 12ºC; 29ºC
Denia: 10ºC; 27ºC
Elche: 10ºC; 33ºC

The unseasonal heat will continue into Friday March 31, although the thermometers could dip a degree or two at the height of the day, and westerly winds will strengthen as the afternoon rolls in. The night will be significantly warmer, the thermometers rising to the high teens in all areas.
West and northwesterly winds could turn to gusts at points, greatly increasing the risk of forest fires.

Alicante: 19ºC; 31ºC
Denia: 16ºC; 29ºC
Elche: 19ºC; 33ºC
Orihuela: 19ºC; 34ºC
All of Alicante province will experience prolonged cloudy intervals on Saturday April 1 but there will be a notable drop in both daytime and night-time temperatures across the board. Even so, the mercury will hit highs of 28ºC inland. The breeze will feel much stronger along the coast and in the afternoon, the northwesterly wind will intensify in the northern half of the province.
