ARCHIVED - Free public transport and pop-up concerts in Murcia City on Wednesday September 22
Murcia City is celebrating World Car-free Day by making trams and red buses free
Public transport will be free in Murcia capital all day today, as September 22 is World Car-free Day. Murcians can hop on red buses and trams without paying, and if they’re lucky can also enjoy travelling concerts between 10am and 12pm.
The Murcia City Council has teamed up with the Department of Sustainable Mobility to offer free public transport links for the day.
There will also be surprise concerts moving around different bus stops in the city, where passengers can hear classical, flamenco, pop and acoustic music from 10am to 12pm.
The initiative comes at the end of European Mobility Week, which has been observed with cycling events in such Murcian towns as San Pedro del Pinatar.
