Foreign man shot to death in Elche
The unidentified victim was shot multiple times in the Elche district of Daimés
A foreign man, around 45 years old, was found dead late Monday night, August 26, in the rural district of Daimés in Elche, after being shot multiple times. The incident has sparked shock and concern among local residents, particularly given recent reports of increased robberies in this usually quiet enclave.
Initially, there was widespread fear that the victim might have been a local resident caught up in the crime wave, but police have since ruled this out.
The body was discovered at around 11pm in Daimés industrial estate 3, close to the tennis courts, after a companion of the victim raised the alarm. Local and National Police officers, as well as medical services, immediately arrived at the scene, but were unable to do anything to revive the man.
The police have sealed the investigation, but early reports confirm that the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds. The house where the shooting took place was guarded overnight to preserve evidence, and a thorough search of the property was conducted by the Judicial Police on Tuesday morning.
Despite extensive searches, no arrests have been made, and authorities remain open to all possibilities as they continue to investigate.
The case is further complicated by the fact that the crime scene is in a scarcely populated area: all of the homes are scattered, and many are unoccupied.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the small community of Daimés, which lies in the southern part of Elche, bordering several other hamlets and the municipality of Santa Pola. The district, home to about 1,400 people, is typically quiet, with residents living in dispersed locations, making this violent event all the more unsettling.
