ARCHIVED - Flu and booster jabs from October 25: Valencia Covid update October 14
The Valencia government is studying the possibility of running both campaigns in parallel from the end of the month

With more than 90% of over 12s now double-jabbed in the Valencia region including Alicante province, the Ministry of Health is now studying the possibility of beginning to administer the flu jab and the third booster dose against Covid at the same time from October 25.
During a visit to a new oncology building at Castellón Provincial Hospital on Wednesday October 13, Regional Health Minister, Ana Barceló, explained that, for the moment, the booster jab will initially be offered to people over seventy, adding that as soon as the Interterritorial Council determines that this age range should be opened up, it will be applied "immediately across the region's health centres",
"It makes sense as the health centre have the records of the people who should be vaccinated against the flu and those who it is determined should receive a third Covid booster dose".
However, setting up further vaccination points has not been ruled out.
"Once we have a plan in place, we will see how best to carry it out the vaccinations in the simplest and most appropriate way for the public," said Barceló.
In 2020, almost a million doses of flu vaccine were administered, a figure that's expected to increase this year.
During her tour of the new hospital facilities, Barceló once again called on young people aged between 29 and 39 who have not yet done so, to get vaccinated "as this is an age group with a lot of social interaction and mobility".
This sector of the population has an immunisation level of 78%, "below what would be desirable", and is already surpassed by the 12 to 19 and 19 to 29 age groups.
"Furthermore, if the Covid passport is going to be requested in certain areas, they will be excluded from the possibility of accessing them," added the health minister.
