Flight from Spain to Edinburgh declares mid-air emergency
The Ryanair flight from Barcelona was diverted to Manchester

A Ryanair flight en route to Scotland was forced to make an unscheduled emergency landing following an in-flight alert. The aircraft, which was flying from Barcelona to Edinburgh, issued a 7700 squawk code on Wednesday morning, March 20, indicating an onboard emergency.
Originally departing Spain at 11.30am, flight FR6267 was expected to arrive in Edinburgh at 1.30pm. However, due to the emergency, the flight was diverted to Manchester Airport, where it touched down at 1.20pm.
Consequently, the scheduled arrival at Edinburgh Airport was cancelled. Ryanair later confirmed that the reason behind the diversion was a medical emergency on board.
A spokesperson for the airline said: "This flight from Barcelona to Edinburgh diverted to Manchester airport after a customer became ill on board.
"The crew called ahead to request medical assistance upon arrival, the aircraft landed, and the customer disembarked and was met by medics for further treatment.
"The flight continued to Edinburgh.
"Ryanair apologies to all customers for this short delay."
This incident comes shortly after a Ryanair flight from Scotland was forced to return and make an emergency landing moments after take-off.
Flight RK1274, travelling from Edinburgh to London Stansted, left the capital on Monday but was compelled to make a u-turn due to the crew's declaration of a mid-air emergency.
Last weekend, passengers travelling with the Irish airline from Tenerife to Manchester were left stranded at the airport when the plane encountered a technical issue, forcing it to land back on the island after just 15 minutes in the air.
