ARCHIVED - First ‘tropical’ night of the summer in the province of Alicante
Overnight temperatures didn’t drop below 20º in many parts of the province on Saturday night
The first ‘tropical’ night of the summer took place in the province of Alicante on Saturday (June 12), with minimum temperatures reaching over 20 degrees in many parts of the province, especially in the coastal areas.
According to Aemet ( the State Meteorology Agency), tropical nights are those in which the temperature remains above 20 degrees Celsius throughout the night; in the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, this phenomenon takes place nearly every night during the summer months.
In Benidorm, the night-time temperature reached 22.1º and, in Alicante, the temperature was 22º. The temperature was also over 20º in Alicante-Elche airport (22.1º), Novelda (21.1º), Rojales (20.9º) and Elche (20.6º).
Following an exceptionally warm Saturday night, the temperatures rose even further on Sunday (June 13), reaching over 30º in most parts of the Comunidad Valenciana, and even up to 32º in some areas.
