First was the house fire, which took place in a property in Santiago de la Ribera, in the municipality of San Javier. At around 3am on Sunday morning, June 16, a call came through to the Emergency Coordination Centre 112 of a house fire in a two-storey building in Avenida Academia General del Aire de Santiago de La Ribera.
After three quarters of an hour, firefighters were able to fully extinguish the flames. Three people were injured in the incident – a 56-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman, who were taken to Los Arcos Hospital, and a third, a 60-year-old man, who was taken to the Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca with severe burns.
Just a few hours later, at 11am, another call came through about a car that burst into flames in the middle of the Gran Vía de La Manga in the municipality of Cartagena.

It was the driver of the vehicle, which was a hire car, who called the fire brigade to come and put out the fire. Thankfully, there was no further damage to property and nobody was harmed.
