The 20th annual Encuentro de Cuadrillas in the Alhama de Murcia village of El Berro is being held over the weekend of February 24 and 25 with the schedule of events including the following:
Saturday February 24
The festival kicks off with an afternoon of music and dancing.
16.30: A photography exhibition opens at the Casa de la Cultura, followed by dancing in the Salón de Ánimas (accompanied by music from the Cuadrilla de El Berro and Sixto Madrid).
In the evening, cakes and hot chocolate will be served as the fun goes on into the night.
Sunday February 25
10.00: Cuadrilla groups are welcomed with sponge cake and homemade patisserie.
11.00: The Cuadrillas take to the stage for a day of music and dancing.
12.30: Holy Mass at the church of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, followed by more music.
14.30: Lunch for all attendees.
During the afternoon, there will be performances by various groups from the Region of Murcia: the Cuadrilla de Balsicas in Mazarrón, the Cuadrilla de Zaraïche in Murcia, the Cuadrilla de Zarzadilla de Totana in Lorca and the local Cuadrilla de El Berro.
