ARCHIVED - Drunk-driver three times over the limit flees scene of crash in Javea
The drunk motorist crashed into a tree in the centre of the Marina Alta town
A drunk driver was eventually arrested in Javea after allegedly smashing his car into a tree in the town centre before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot.
According to Local Police. the driver lost control of his car in Camí Vell de Bolufer and crashed before leaving it in the middle of the road and running off at around 10.20pm on Saturday January 29.
With the help of eyewitnesses, police were able to locate the driver who was breathalysed and found to be three times the legal alcohol limit. He is expected to appear before the courts this week.
Fortunately, nobody was injured in the crash and the vehicle was quickly removed.
A drunk driver was arrested in Alicante last week after being clocked speeding along the AP7 at 213km/h
