ARCHIVED - Dramatic drop in temperatures this week: Alicante weather forecast September 19-22
Light, scattered showers are expected in Alicante early in the week and the mercury will take a nosedive in the coming days
Much of the Valencian Community was buried under a deluge of rain over the weekend, particularly on Sunday September 18 when torrential rainfall caused a huge amount of damage and sadly claimed the life of one Calpe police officer who was trying to rescue a man trapped in his car during the downpour.
For the moment though there are no weather warnings in place this coming week in Alicante or the rest of the region and while it will be largely overcast, the rain will be kept to a minimum.
Monday September 19
An overcast start to the day clearing just a little as the day goes on, with an isolated shower or occasional storm forecast in the afternoon. Daytime temperatures will creep up a bit while the night will be much cooler.

Alcoy: 16ºC; 27ºC
Alicante: 20ºC; 29ºC
Denia: 21ºC; 29ºC
Elche: 19ºC; 30ºC
Orihuela: 20ºC; 30ºC
Tuesday September 20
Mostly clear skies on Tuesday with no change to the daytime temperatures. A light south easterly wind is forecast in the afternoon, which will be stronger along the coast.

Alcoy: 17ºC; 28ºC
Alicante: 19ºC; 29ºC
Denia: 20ºC; 30ºC
Elche: 17ºC; 30ºC
Orihuela: 17ºC; 30ºC
Wednesday September 21
Wednesday will dawn relatively clear but the day will become more overcast towards the afternoon. Showers and some thunderstorms are most likely in inland areas but some scattered rain is possible throughout the region. No change to the temperatures.

Alcoy: 16ºC; 28ºC
Alicante: 20ºC; 29ºC
Denia: 20ºC; 31ºC
Elche: 18ºC; 30ºC
Orihuela: 18ºC; 30ºC
Thursday September 22
On Thursday the showers and storms will return to the Community, with some strong intervals forecast in Alicante. Nighttime temperatures will remain unchanged but there will be a dramatic drop in the mercury during the day.

Alicante: 19ºC; 26ºC
Denia: 19ºC; 26ºC
Elche: 18ºC; 26ºC
Orihuela: 19ºC; 27ºC
