December 14 Free guided hike on the Mazarron greenway
Enjoy a 9-kilometre country walk during the annual fiestas of Mazarrón
Every December the municipality of Mazarrón holds its annual fiestas patronales in honour of La Purísima, the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, and on the Saturday after her feast day in 2024 a free guided hike is being held on the greenway and PR MU-100 route.
This is a relatively simple hiking route along the track bed of the old railway which connected Totana, Cartagena and Mazarrón. Sadly this line was never fully brought into service but it has resulted in a lovely hiking route which includes the mountain of Majal de Gracia, the old transhumance path between La Pinilla and Las Palas.
The hike covers 9.3 kilometres and is expected to take around 3 hours, beginning at 9.00 in El Saladillo. Obviously, appropriate clothing and footwear are required. Online registration is available here.
For further information consult the tourist office in Puerto de Mazarrón (Plaza Toneleros, telephone 968 594426, email oficinaturismomazarron@gmail.com or turismomazarron@esatur.com.
