After disastrous flooding in Benicassim on Sunday August 29 and in Sagunt and Canet on Monday August 30, followed by intense hail in some parts of Valencia, Aemet has warned that the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are not over yet, as a DANA (isolated high-altitude depression) storm is expected to hit some inland areas on Wednesday September 1.
Tuesday’s forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies across the region in the first half of the day, with some light rain and storms on the northern coast (Valencia and Castellón) which will travel inland in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Alicante is expected to avoid most of the bad weather, with a sunny afternoon expected in most of the province.

On Wednesday, the ‘gota fría’ storm is expected to hit the region, with frequent electric storms, strong gusts of wind and hail forecast both inland and in coastal regions of Castellón and Valencia throughout the day.
Once again, Alicante should escape the worst of the storm, with only light rain forecast in some inland areas and the temperature is expected to remain stable at around 28 degrees in most of the province.
The region will continue to feel the effects of the DANA on Thursday September 2, with rainfall expected in Valencia, Castellón and the north of Alicante in the early hours of the morning, which will travel down towards the southernmost part of the region in the late afternoon.

Friday September 3 and Saturday September 4 will see the last of the ‘gota fría’ with light patches of rain forecast in the region, and on Sunday September 5, temperatures are expected to shoot back up to the low thirties in all three provinces, accompanied by sunny skies.
