DANA threatens to bring more rain this week: Spain weather forecast September 5-8
Northern and eastern areas face the greatest chance of rain while southern Spain and the Mediterranean should stay warmer

Weather alerts for persistent rain and thunderstorms on Monday October 5
Spain is heading into a changeable start to October, with rain, showers and thunderstorms affecting several parts of the country before conditions become a little more settled later in the week.
Monday October 5, will still feel the effects of the unsettled weather seen over recent days, particularly in the northeast and west. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible in some areas, with northeastern Catalonia among the places facing the greatest risk.
Showers will remain possible on Tuesday October 6 and Wednesday October 7, although they won't be continuous. There should be plenty of dry spells and brighter breaks between them, particularly away from the areas most exposed to the unsettled conditions.

Weather outlook on Tuesday afternoon
Northern Spain, the northeast and mountainous areas are likely to see the most frequent rainfall, while the Mediterranean coast and Balearic Islands could also experience locally heavy showers and thunderstorms. The Canary Islands will see some cloud and showers, particularly across the northern parts of the larger islands.
By Thursday October 8, some inland, western and southern areas could begin to see more settled conditions, although rain will continue in other parts of Spain.
There is also growing interest in the possibility of a DANA developing towards the end of the week. Forecast models are currently suggesting that a cut-off low could form southwest of the Iberian Peninsula and potentially influence southern Spain and North Africa as the long weekend gets underway. It's still too early to say exactly where or how much rain could result, so this is one to keep an eye on as the week progresses.

Average temperatures forecast on Wednesday
Temperatures will also fluctuate rather than following a straightforward cooling trend. Overall, they should remain close to the normal levels for early October, although the contrast between the Mediterranean coast and inland Spain will be noticeable.
Madrid will start the week with highs of around 23°C before temperatures fall towards 19 to 21°C. Overnight temperatures could drop to just 8 to 10°C in the capital later in the week.
Along the Mediterranean coast, temperatures will remain considerably milder. Valencia could reach 25 to 28°C at the start of the week, falling to around 22 to 24°C later on.

Average temperatures forecast on Thursday
Further south, Seville and Córdoba could still see temperatures of 27 to 29°C, while Valladolid and Burgos will be considerably cooler, with highs generally between 17 and 21°C.
