ARCHIVED - Covid update Valencia region June 16: region continues to report lowest rate in Spain
136 new cases have been diagnosed in the latest 24 hour period and one fatality registered
The Valencia region (Comunidad Valenciana, comprising the provinces of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia) remains the region with the lowest Covid incidence in Spain; reporting just 39.19 cases per 100,000 of population according to the latest figures published on Wednesday June 16 by the regional health authorities.
The national average is now 101.39 cases per 100,000 with Andalucía at the other end of the scale, reporting 184.27 cases per 100,000.
The Valencia region has been in this enviable position for several weeks now, but is still reporting new cases on a daily basis.
In the last 24 hour period 136 new cases have been diagnosed, bringing the total number of positives in the region since the pandemic first began to 397,056. By provinces this breaks down to seven new cases in Castellón (41,233 in total); 81 in Alicante (148,633 in total); and 48 in Valencia, (207,189 in total).
Hospitalisations:
There are currently 105 people admitted in total across the region with more severe covid symptoms: 14 in the province of Castellón, with 2 patients in ICU; 26 in the province of Alicante, 6 of them in the ICU; and 65 in the province of Valencia, 15 of them in ICU.
Since the last update yesterday, 221 patients have been given the all-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries in the region to date to 399,152.
Fatalities:
Since the last update 24 hours ago, one death has been registered, bringing the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic to 7,446: 806 in the province of Castellón, 2,842 in Alicante province and 3,798 in Valencia province.
All of which adds up to a current total of 1,925 active cases across the region as of today.
