ARCHIVED - Covid update Alicante province June 18: Incidence rate continues to fall
The province on the Costa Blanca remains at 'low risk' as the incidence rate drops slightly.
Alicante province has one of the lowest incidence rates in the country, and the level has again dropped slightly to 31.15 cases per 100,000 people - a point less than three days ago.
But while the province remains at 'low risk', there are municipalities which are struggling to stablise new cases, according to updated data from the Ministry of Health.
Notable changes - up or down - have been seen in the following areas:
Vega Baja
Torrevieja has suffered a significant rebound with the incidence rate jumping from 37.05 cases to 53.39 in 72 hours. There are currently 98 active cases.
Orihuela has the second-lowest incidence rate in the province, but it has registered a slight increase, going from 16.07 cases to 19.64 as of today. The municipality currently has 33 positive cases.
Marina Baixa
Alcoy is still at 'medium risk' although it is edging towards the 'new normal' after dropping to 25.60 cases per 100,000 inhabitants from 34.38 on Tuesday, June 15. Positives have fallen from 47 to 35.
While Villajoyosa remains at 'low risk, the incidence rate has leapt six points in three days and now stands at 36.65 cases per 100,000 with 67 active cases.
Baix Vinalopo
In Elche, the increase has been slight, although the municipality is now petering on the threshold of 50 cases and "medium risk". The rate is currently 48.46, up two points since the last update, and 81 positives remain active.
Marina Alta
The incidence rate in Denia continues to fall, from 19.93 three days ago to 16.41 with 28 active cases as of today.
Vinalopo Mitja
Agueña remains at 'extreme risk' though the situation has improved, with the rate sliding from 377.07 to 150.83.
