ARCHIVED - Clear sunny skies and highs of 30 degrees over Easter weekend

There is only a slight chance of scattered showers in the north of Alicante province on Easter Sunday, April 9

Conditions have heated up in Alicante province as the week has progressed, and thermometers look set to rise further over Easter weekend.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the province can expect clear skies for the most part, with the odd intervals of low cloud, and only a slight chance of scattered rain in the north of the province on Sunday.  
 
Good Friday (April 7) will get off to a clear start with the mercury hovering between 20 and 23ºC. A light variable wind will tend towards southerly from mid-afternoon.

Alcoy: 7ºC to 21ºC
Alicante: 11ºC to 20ºC
Denia: 8ºC to 21ºC
Elche: 8ºC to 21ºC
Orihuela: 7ºC to 23ºC

Again, most of the province can expect clear skies on Saturday April 8, although southern areas could see intervals of high cloud in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise, and highs of 30ºC are forecast in Orihuela. A light variable wind will become more easterly in the afternoon, with occasional increases in intensity along the coast.

Alicante: 9ºC to 22ºC
Denia: 10ºC to 21ºC
Elche: 7ºC to 26ºC
Orihuela: 7ºC to 30ºC

It won't feel as warm on Easter Sunday April 9, although the mercury will remain in the low to mid 20s. Aemet has forecast morning mist in the south and intervals of high cloud in the afternoon. There's a slight chance of scattered showers in the north of the province and a light variable wind in the morning will become north-easterly on the coast and predominantly westerly inland.
