Cartagena beaches and marinas awarded 10 Blue Flags for summer 2023
The beach of El Portús is a new addition to the list in Cartagena
It has been announced by the ADEAC organization that this year the number of Blue Flags awarded to beaches and other installations in the municipality of Cartagena for the summer is one higher than in 2022 at 10, due to the addition of the beach of El Portús, where the prestigious quality beach flag will be flown for the first time.
The other Cartagena beaches included in the 2023 list are those of Cala Cortina, Isla Plana, El Cuartel, La Chapineta and San Ginés (all three in La Azohía), Levante in Cabo de Palos and Banco del Tabal-Calnegre on the Mediterranean shore of La Manga del Mar Menor. Unfortunately, though, it is now some years since those beaches on the shore of the Mar Menor were dropped from the AEAC list due to concerns over water quality in the lagoon.
The two marinas awarded Blue Flags in Cartagena are those of the Real Club de Regatas and Yacht Port Cartagena.
Blue Flags are awarded to beaches after taking into consideration many different factors, including the facilities on offer, beach safety and of course water quality.
