Budget Imserso holidays go on sale for pensioners in the Region of Murcia this September
Sales for the 2026-2027 season open on September 16 for priority members across Spain and September 17 for everyone else

Pensioners across the Region of Murcia and the rest of Spain will soon be able to get their hands on this year's Imserso trips, with sales for the 2026-2027 season opening on September 16 for priority travellers and September 17 for non-priority users.
The popular tourism programme, run by the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services and attached to the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, is offering nearly 880,000 places nationwide this season.
Imserso has already begun sending out almost 2.9 million letters to the 4.6 million people accredited to take part in the programme. Each letter includes a unique four-digit code needed to make bookings, along with the exact date each person can start reserving or purchasing trips and a list of who they're allowed to bring along, typically the applicant themselves plus a spouse, partner or children with disabilities.
For pensioners with fewer financial resources, the Ministry has kept the reduced fare of €50 in place for this season, regardless of where the trip is heading, with Imserso covering the rest of the cost. A total of 7,447 places have been set aside for this reduced rate, aimed at those receiving benefits equal to or below the non-contributory disability or retirement pension threshold.
A number of places have also been reserved for pensioners who want to bring their pets along, whether they're headed to the mainland coast or the islands, in line with the relevant rules around travelling with animals.
Of the 879,213 places on offer this season, just over half, 50.1%, are allocated to peninsular coastal tourism, while 25.9% cover island coastal tourism and the remaining 23.9% are set aside for short break tourism, which includes cultural circuits, nature trips, provincial capitals, Ceuta and Melilla, and trips departing from elsewhere in Europe.
Each province is allocated a set number of trips per destination, based proportionally on how many residents over the age of 65 are registered there. Between September 14 and 18, applicants will only be able to book trips within their own province's quota, a measure Imserso says is designed to stagger demand and avoid overwhelming booking systems. From September 19 onwards, any unsold trips become available to book from any province.
Imserso has pointed out that the booking window remains open throughout the season, as cancellations and changes constantly free up new places that get added back into the system. It has also distributed 36% of places in each batch across every month of the campaign, aiming to spread demand more evenly throughout the year and avoid overcrowding during the busiest periods.
Pensioners can book their trips to the peninsular coast, island coast or short break destinations through www.turismosocial.es or www.mundicolor.es, using their ID and accreditation code, or in person at any authorised travel agency using just their ID.
