British expat tragically found dead after going missing from Benidorm hospital
Pete Jackson, 54, was well-known in Benidorm and was well regarded in the community

The family of a British man who disappeared after discharging himself from a Benidorm hospital at the weekend have confirmed the tragic news that he has been found dead.
Pete Jackson, 54, walked out of the IMED Hospital on Saturday morning and hadn't been seen or heard from since, sparking an urgent search by family, friends and the local British community. His body has now been discovered.
Shirley Ebbs, Pete's wife and long-term partner of nearly 29 years, said: "It is with a heavy heart that I share an update on Pete Jackson."
Shirley would like to thank everyone who has helped to search for Pete and offered their support.
The disappearance had been completely out of character for Pete, who had lived and worked in the Costa Blanca resort for nearly three years. His relatives said he had been alert when he left the medical facility on the morning of Saturday February 7 but was still on medication, and they became increasingly concerned he may have become confused or lost his bearings.
Those who knew him said Pete lived a quiet but sociable life in Benidorm and was well regarded in the community. Friends and family described him as friendly, cheerful and full of energy, someone who was completely devoted to his family and closest friends.
The local British community threw its weight behind efforts to find him, with appeals being shared widely across social media and local groups in the hope that someone might have information about his whereabouts.
