Bird found injured on Malaga runway causes delays for British flights
Two UK-bound planes forced to change plans after injured flamingo spotted on runway

Among the flights affected were a Ryanair service from Nottingham and a Wizz Air flight from London, both heading to Malaga. Both had to adjust their approaches and delay landings while the situation was managed.
According to a message from the airport’s air traffic controllers on their official social media channel, normal operations have since resumed after the bird was safely removed. The controllers expressed their hopes that the animal recovers without lasting effects, recognising the unusual nature of the disruption.
Incidents involving wildlife on airport runways are rare but not unheard of, and airports maintain protocols to handle such events safely for both passengers and animals. While minor delays can be frustrating, prioritising safety remains crucial.
