ARCHIVED - Benidorm Police launch Christmas campaign to bring festive cheer to those most in need
The solidarity campaign is organised annually by the Sociocultural Association of the Local Police of Benidorm (ASCPLB)

Benidorm Local Police has launched its annual Christmas appeal for the public to donate food, hygiene products and presents to bring a bit of festive cheer to families in need.
Until January 15, non-perishable products and gifts can be dropped off at the local police station, as well as at a special collection point located in 'La Pecera' on the ground floor of Benidorm Town Hall.
The appeal was first organised by the Sociocultural Association of the Local Police of Benidorm (ASCPLB) in 2013, and since then, thousands of vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals and families have benefitted.
Kicking off the campaign on Wednesday December 20, Councillor for Public Safety, Lorenzo Martínez, accompanied by the president of the association, Rafael Urbano, recalled that in the last campaign "more than 2,000 euros in hygiene products and toys were collected and distributed through Caritas".
And it's hoped this achievement will be equalled or bettered this year.
"This is a very positive initiative that strengthens the links between public servants and society, especially with the most disadvantaged groups," added Martinez.
In addition to the items and gifts collected, benefits from the sale of Christmas and Children's lottery tickets - which are still on sale - will be donated to the campaign.
