Barneys, founded in 2007 was named after a favourite dog and became a registered Charity shortly thereafter..

Dogs are known as man’s best friend. The bond between a rescued dog and their new owner seems to be much greater and is especially rewarding, almost as if the dogs appreciate the new chance.

All money raised by Barney’s Dog Rescue goes to directly helping abandoned dogs/puppies; all dogs are vaccinated and sterilized and have a passport, so much of the money raised is for vets bills and food.

It is important to us to do the very best we can to find secure loving homes for all dogs and puppies who come into our care and adopters have to care for these dogs for life. Our dogs are homed across Europe with Spain, UK, Germany, Norway and Sweden popular destinations. A very big thank you to all those who provide a new home for these needy dogs. The vast majority of dogs are kept in home of Violet and Terry Canada del Trigo and the remainder in those of our foster carers across Murcia region. Bearing in mind Barney’s homed 150+ dogs in 2010, 170+ in 2011 and we homed over 250 dogs in 9 different countries during 2012, so it is easy to see just what a commitment it is.

The help of some dedicated fosterers has been invaluable and new fosterers are constantly being sought. Foster carers can have a dog for a few weeks to many months. Barney’s pays all vet bills and food bills for dogs that are fostered out. The fosterer supplies the love and care and while it is an emotionally difficult job it is also very satisfying giving abandoned dogs and puppies the chance of a new loving family.

Raising money is difficult but we have collection tins at many locations, we do a sponsored walk every year and publish our own calendar together with numerous fund raising events. Look out for information on our web site.

We are always looking for people to raise funds for us and many have held car boot sales, auctions and table tops sales. The dependence on volunteers to organise and undertake fundraising is important for us as time is a big issue when we are caring for as many as 50 dogs/puppies at a time at home.  If you feel you could help then please contact us now.

AIMS AND MISSION STATEMENT
The aim of Barneys Dog Rescue is to ensure the well being of all dogs lost or abandoned within a reasonable area of Cañada del Trigo. We intend to work with all members of the community, the guardia and the ayuntamiento to achieve this goal

Barneys will ensure all dogs brought into our care will receive the appropriate veteninary attention. We intend to re home all dogs in loving secure homes and where this is not immediately possible, to give loving foster care until a home can be found.

We will endeavour to give all rescued dogs a new start in life ensuring they are placed in homes that are suitable for their needs.

All new owners will be expected to complete our adoption form and to adhere to the dog care guidlines.
