Autumn weather sets in: Spain forecast September 18-21
After another couple of scorching days, the temperatures are due to fall across Spain over the weekend

Average temperatures expected on Sunday
The heat this week has been intense, with temperatures climbing steadily day after day. On Wednesday September 17, El Granado in Huelva recorded 40.8ºC, Montoro in Córdoba reached 40ºC and Badajoz also hit 40ºC.
Thursday September 18

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the heat should reach its peak on Thursday. In parts of the southwest, temperatures could hit 40ºC again, while many inland areas will exceed 35ºC.
Cities such as Lleida, Logroño, Madrid and Ourense are expected to reach 34-36ºC. Bilbao could see 37ºC, and the hottest readings will be in Badajoz, Ciudad Real, Córdoba and Seville, where temperatures may surpass 38ºC or even reach 40ºC.
Tropical nights will also begin to spread, particularly in the Mediterranean region, the lower Ebro Valley, the southern peninsula and parts of the southwest and central Spain. In the Canary Islands, highs will reach 34-36ºC, with overnight lows around 25ºC. Haze is expected, and heat warnings remain in effect across multiple provinces.
Friday September 19

On Friday, the first signs of change arrive. Highs will start to drop across much of Spain, though the southwest will remain warm. Tropical nights will continue along the Mediterranean coast and southern regions. Nighttime temperatures will remain mild in most areas, with tropical conditions persisting in several inland zones.
Rain will begin in Galicia and will move across Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. Afternoon showers may affect Castile and León, La Rioja, Navarra, and Aragón, with the southeastern mountains also seeing some rainfall.
Saturday September 20

Saturday will bring a more noticeable drop in temperatures as the Atlantic front advances. Most western and central areas will feel the chill. Rain will continue through Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country, with lighter showers in Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucia. Rain may intensify in eastern parts of the country.
Sunday September 21

By Sunday, few regions will see temperatures above 30ºC. The warmest spots will be in the east, including the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community, Murcia, Andalucia and the southern Canary Islands. Minimum temperatures in inland northern areas could fall below 10ºC, while coastal regions remain mild.
Rain will continue in the northeast, affecting Navarra, Aragón, Catalonia and the northern interior of the Valencian Community. The Balearic Islands may also see rain late Sunday or early Monday. Some storms could produce significant rainfall in a short period of time.
