ARCHIVED - Ryanair flight to Alicante declares emergency after take-off
The Spain-bound flight from Glasgow had to be diverted following a medical emergency not long after take-off
Ryanair flight FR2522 from Glasgow to Alicante was forced to divert to Manchester airport on Sunday evening, April 3, after a medical emergency was declared shortly after take-off.
The plane departed the Scottish airport bound for Spain at 8.47pm but just thirty minutes later a passenger became ill and the flight had to be rerouted. Flightradar24, which monitors air traffic, showed the plane turning around over Shropshire in England before heading back to Manchester Airport.

Ryanair confirmed that medical personnel were at Manchester to meet the unwell passenger and that the flight once again took off for Spain a short time later.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “This flight from Glasgow to Alicante (April 3) diverted to Manchester Airport after a passenger became ill on board. The crew called ahead to request medical assistance on arrival, the aircraft landed normally, the customer disembarked and was met by medics.
“The flight safely continued to Alicante shortly after and Ryanair apologises to all customers for this short delay.”
