ARCHIVED - Illegal advertising hoardings to be removed in Torrevieja
Over a hundred hoardings are unauthorized in the Vega Baja municipality
At least 120 advertising hoardings are to be removed from the roadside in Torrevieja at the behest of the Town Hall department of Urbanismo on the grounds that they are not officially licenced and cannot be made legal. The area most affected is on the CV-905 which heads north out of town towards Ciudad Quesada and Rojales, especially around the Habaneras and Carrefour shopping centre.
Those responsible for erecting the hoardings are required to pay a fine and remove them, the company most affected being Publiantón. Should they fail to do so further fines will be levied, but some of the offending boards have already disappeared.
This clean-up may favour Impursa, the company which is contracted by the Town Hall to look after Torrevieja’s bus shelters and the information panels on the streets of the town. Impursa have complained in the past that they are unable to make the panels viable by leasing out advertising space as a result of the “unfair competition” from unauthorized advertising hoardings, and in consequence have often not been able to pay their concession fee to the local government.
