The 25th edition of the Alicante event will include book signings, readings, parties and much more
Alicante bibliophiles are in for a treat this Easter as the 25th edition of the hugely popular Book Fair will hit the streets of Torrevieja between Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 9.
A total of 8 bookstore booths (Buendía Bookstore, Alas de Papel Writers Association, The Thousand and One Books, Torrevieja Stationery, Trini Bookstore, Santos Ochoa Bookstore, Baigorri Bookstore and Rivendell Bookstore) will be installed on Paseo Vista Alegre, while a marquee next to the Coralista monument will stage a host of different events throughout the week.
One of the highlights of the event will be a book signing by acclaimed author Santiago Posteguillo, whose hit novel ‘Yo, Julia’ won the Planeta Prize in 2018. He will be promoting his latest book, ‘Roma soy yo’ and anyone who makes a purchase from one of the stores will be entered into a raffle for the grand prize at the end of the Fair.
Here’s a taste of the exciting events happening in Torrevieja for the 2023 Book Fair.
Saturday April 1
- 12pm: Opening of the Book Fair.
- 12.30pm: Talk and book signing by Santiago Posteguillo.
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing by Avelina Chichilla and Serena Simón (Caseta Alas de Papel).
Sunday April 2
- 12pm: Mr. Bunny Party for the kiddies, featuring the Easter bunny.
- 5.30pm: Book signing with Blas Ruiz Grau, a contemporary Spanish novelist of thrillers, known best for his expertise in the criminology and forensic fields. (Torrevieja Stationery Booth).
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing by Gracia Román Tena and Montse González Manresa (Caseta Alas de Papel).
Monday April 3
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-10pm): Book signing with Luís David Pérez Pérez and Mavi Pastor (Caseta Alas de Papel).
Tuesday April 4
- 6pm: Comic presentation by Diego Ramírez.
- 7pm: Conference 3000 years of Alicante wine culture with Eladio Martin.
Wednesday April 5
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-10pm): Book signing by Maruja Moyano Peña and Leo Mazzola (Caseta Alas de Papel).
- 5.30pm: Dramatised reading of "Monologues for adolescents", from the Municipal School of Theatre.
- 7pm: Lecture by Marieta Alonso Más.
Thursday April 6
- 11am: Book signing with Roberto Hurtado, a specialist in Internal Medicine at the Vega Baja Hospital in Orihuela with several publications under his belt, including his latest historical novel "The Sea You Breathe." (Caseta Papelería Torrevieja).
- 5.30pm: Roberto Hurtado book signing. (Santos Ochoa Booth).
- 5.30pm: Book signing by Stephen Nicholas Jones, a Torrevieja resident and author of fantasy novels and children’s books. (Torrevieja Stationery Booth).
- 6pm: Lecture "Women writers: a vision of the woman writer from the literary canon", by Serena Simón Vives.
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing by Cristina Peonas and Maite Rodríguez Esteban. (Caseta Alas de Papel).
Friday April 7
- 11am and 5.30pm: Book signing with Luis Barberá. (Santos Ochoa Booth).
- 5.30pm: Book signing by Carmelo Manresa, celebrating his work as a cartoonist with his latest graphic novel set in Torrevieja - "Cinema de Verano." (Caseta Papelería Torrevieja).
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing by Avelino Martínez Granados and Marieta Alonso. (Caseta Alas de Papel).
Saturday April 8
- 12pm: SDG workshop on sustainability with Mediterranean aromatic plants.
- 11am and 5.30pm: Book signing with Fran González Amorós. (Caseta Santos Ochoa).
- 6pm: SDG-themed bookmark workshop
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing by Luisa Ruíz Bueno and Virginia Sanz. (Casetas Alas de Papel).
Sunday April 9
- 12pm: Games and face painting.
- 7pm: Poetry recital by Ars Creatio.
- All day (10.30am-2:30pm and 5.30pm-11pm): Book signing with Luís Amat Vidal and María Serralba. (Caseta Alas de Papel).
