Andalucía weather February 17-23: Fog and scattered showers forecast this week

Several areas can expect rain this week, though it will also be mild and not too blustery

Spain’s southern region of Andalucía can expect stable temperatures and mostly dry, slightly cloudy weather conditions this week, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), who also point to moments of scattered showers throughout the week and some heavier rain forecast towards the weekend.

It will be a foggy start to Monday morning, February 17, especially for the western half of the region, but that will clear up as the day brightens up, leaving only the coast of Málaga and Granada, around Torremolinos, Nerja and Motril, as the only places where the fog clings on almost all day long. For the rest, it will be sunny with some light, high cloud cover, perhaps heavier towards Huelva.

Huelva will also be likely the only province that is due to get rain on Tuesday 18, starting on the coast then spreading inland and lasting all day long, while the rest of Andalucía enjoys dry – if somewhat cloudier – conditions. Windspeeds will be gentle and temperatures will rise slightly from the day before.

For Wednesday 19 there will be more scattered showers in Huelva in the morning and also on the coast of Cádiz that will clear up by the afternoon, when it will be the turn of Málaga, Granada and Jaén to enjoy some gentle rainfall, while for everyone else it continues to be quite overcast but bright.

Thursday 20 and the first half of Friday 21 are due to be dry and sunny across the board, according to Aemet, with temperatures continuing to rise ever so slightly. Then, on Friday afternoon, a larger bank of rainclouds will come rolling in from the Atlantic and eastwards across Andalucía, bringing rain to the west and central parts overnight on Friday. However, it is not expected to be accompanied by the kind of strong, destructive winds that hit Huelva last week.

On Saturday 22, the rain leaves the western half behind to dry out as it works its way further east, bringing rain even as far as Almería, where it will rain for most of the day before petering out come the evening.

Aemet forecasts some residual showers in Almería on Sunday 23, but for the most part it should be dry for the rest of Andalucía.
