ARCHIVED - Alicante police hunting Costa del Sol fugitive wanted over kidnapping of Russian couple appeal for public help
The 40-year-old Spanish suspect from Sevilla is believed to be hiding out in Portugal
The Guardia Civil has launched a hunt for a dangerous fugitive who allegedly kidnapped a Russian couple in Alicante, and is appealing for public help to locate him.
40-year-old Carlos Garrido Delgado from Seville on the Costa del Sol is believed to be the leader of a group accused of kidnapping, pretending to be persons in authority and membership in a criminal organisation.
According to the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (U.O.P.J.) of the Guardia Civil in Alicante, the fugitive, who has extensive contacts on the Costa Blanca, Andalucia and further afield, may be in hiding in Portugal.
Other gang members have already been arrested: three of them in Alicante, two in Huelva, and a sixth in Madrid. The case is being heard by the Alicante Court of Instruction number 3.
An investigation into the organisation's activities was initiated in June by the Judicial Police Team of Sant Joan d'Alacant, and following the initial arrests, the alleged ring leader disappeared.
A European arrest warrant has been issued and anybody with any information about Garrido Delgado's movements or whereabouts is urged to call the Guardia Civil's Judicial Police Unit in Alicante on 650 384 071.
