ARCHIVED - Alicante starts the week on orange alert for heavy rain: weather outlook September 26-29
Locally intense rain and thurnderstorms are forecast in Alicante on Monday September 26

Alicante province kicks off the week with an orange warning (significiant risk) for localised heavy rain and thunderstorms that may be more intense in some localities, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), following a weekend of flash flooding in parts of the region.
The orange alert will be reduced to yellow (risk) by midday until 8pm when it is expected to be lifted, but in the meantime, the rains could accumulate up to 40 litres/m2 in just 12 hours. Pego in the Marina Alta region of the province recorded a whopping 204 litres/m2 in the same period on Sunday September 25, but the downpours are not expected to reach the same extreme levels today.
In addition to the high risk of locally heavy showers and thunderstorms on Monday morning, the north of the province can expect mist and fog with a drop in daytime and nighttime temperatures across the board. On the coast, a moderate north-easterly wind is forecast; inland, light variable winds will be predominantly easterly.
