ARCHIVED - Alicante province registers three small earthquakes in four days
The trio of earthquakes were registered in Torrevieja, Los Montesinos and Hondón de las Nieves in the Alicante province.
The Vega Baja and Vinalopó Mitjá comarcas of the province of Alicante have registered three low intensity earthquakes of between 1.7 and 1.9 degrees on the Richter scale in the last four days.
Fortunately, no material damage was caused and no injuries were reported.
Two of the small earthquakes occurred in the Vega Baja, specifically in Torrevieja and Los Montesinos, and there was a third in Vinalopó Mitjá, in Hondón de las Nieves, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The most recent, of magnitude 1.8, was recorded on Wednesday, May 12, at 6.52 at a depth of two kilometers in Los Montesinos.
Three days earlier, on May 9, two earthquakes were recorded in the south of the province, the first at 1.30am of 1.7 degrees intensity with an epicenter in Torrevieja, and at a depth of seven kilometers.
And the second, registering 1.9 degrees on the Richter, occurred in Hondón de las Nieves, at 4.05pm at a depth of 12 kilometers.
