Alicante dodges the storm: Weather forecast Jan 30-Feb 2
Scattered showers are forecast across the Costa Blanca this weekend
Average temperatures expected on Saturday
As most of Spain is battening down the hatches in anticipation of storm Ivo, Alicante will thankfully avoid the very worst of the weather. However, the province can still expect plenty of the cloudy skies typical of the end of January, and rain is pretty much a certainty over the weekend.
Thursday January 30
Thursday should be bright and sunny in most parts early in the day but the cloud cover will gradually increase as the hours go by. By evening, it will be very overcast and light, scattered rain is forecast in the north of the province, particularly in Benidorm, Calpe and Dénia.
Temperatures will be similar to previous days, reaching highs of 18ºC or 19ºC and dipping as low as 5ºC inland at night.
Friday January 31
Following some thunderstorms overnight, Friday will be very overcast along the northern coast, where showers could continue throughout the day.
Friday night will be slightly cooler but daytime temperatures should remain largely unchanged.
Saturday February 1
Following a dry and bright start, light, scattered showers will become almost widespread by the afternoon, with the heaviest rain forecast in the north of the province.
Night-time temperatures will take another dip, and the snow level will drop to an altitude of just 600-800 metres.
A northerly wind could feel a bit blustery along the coast.
Sunday February 2
The skies will be clear or only slightly cloudy on Sunday and day-time temperatures will start to climb again, although the evening will be very chilly, with temperatures dropping to just 3ºC inland.
A light wind from the west is expected, with intervals of moderate northwesterly gusts on the coast.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Alicante this weekend
- Thursday January 30: Min 5ºC; Max 19ºC
- Friday January 31: Min 4ºC; Max 19ºC
- Saturday February 1: Min 2ºC; Max 19ºC
- Sunday February 2: Min 3ºC; Max 19ºC
