ARCHIVED - Alicante couple arrested for forcing 16-year-old son to deal drugs at school
According to the National Police in Alicante, the teenager was coerced with threats and physical violence
The parents of a 16-year-old boy in Alicante have been arrested on suspicion of using threatening behaviour and violence to force the teenager to deal drugs to fellow students at an institute in the city.
The boy himself visited Alicante police station to report was what was going on and, as evidence, provided a small quantity of hashish that his parents had allegedly given him to sell.
According to National Police, the teenager claims he suffered "threats and physical abuse" at home, and if he refused to traffick drugs, he told police his parents would "beat him".
In addition, he told officers about episodes of reckless driving by his father, claiming his dad drove at more than 240 kilometres per hour whilst the boy was in the car, "putting his life at risk".
After taking his statement, the National Police Minors' Group activated the protocol for dealing with minors and domestic issues and officers visited the family home where the parents, aged 34 and 36 and of Spanish nationality, were arrested.
During a search of the property, police found more than two kilos of marijuana, boxes of pills and anabolic substances, two 500-euro notes and several mobile phones.
Firearms that were hidden inside a manipulated butane cylinder were also seized; specifically, two pistols and two tasers.
Alicante Magistrates' Court has since remanded the father in custody, and to avoid possible reprisals, a restraining order has been ordered against the rest of the family. Parental authority has been suspended to protect the 16-year-old.
