Alicante Airport unveils plans for snazzy new VIP lounge
Travellers using the Costa Blanca hub can expect more comfort and better facilities as part of ongoing airport improvements

Passengers flying through Alicante Airport can expect a more comfortable start to their journey in the near future, as work gets underway on a brand new VIP lounge packed with upgraded facilities.
The project focuses on bringing the former Ifach Lounge back into use after it was closed following the 2020 terminal fire. Once complete, the revamped space will be significantly larger and far more modern, designed to offer a premium experience for travellers looking to escape the busy departure areas.
Plans for the new lounge include a wide range of features aimed at making pre-flight time more enjoyable. There will be showers, a quiet reading zone, a dedicated children’s area and even a video game room. A catering space with a bar is also included, along with a meeting room and a private area for nursing mothers.
The upgraded lounge will cover just over 1,900 square metres in total, including an outdoor terrace, giving passengers plenty of space to relax before boarding.
This is just one part of a much wider transformation planned for Alicante Airport over the coming years. The improvements don’t stop at refurbishing existing spaces, as a completely new VIP lounge is also in the pipeline as part of a larger terminal expansion.
That future lounge is expected to cater mainly to non-Schengen passengers, including a large number of UK travellers heading to and from the Costa Blanca. It will form part of the new terminal extension, which will include additional boarding gates and improved passenger flow throughout the airport.
The wider plans also include new shopping and dining areas.
