Residents of the Levante Almeriense area will soon have a new place to shop for everyday items, as the international discount chain Action prepares to open a new store in the region in Huércal Overa. The new branch, which is due to open on Thursday March 26, is being built in Sector 5, a growing commercial hub already home to other big names such as Tedi, Lidl, Mercadona, Burger King and Zeeman.

 

Until now, the nearest Action store for Huércal Overa has been the one in Albox, which is further away and less convenient for many local shoppers. The arrival of a branch in the municipality itself is expected to make budget shopping much easier for families and older residents who like to keep an eye on their spending.

 

The store will launch with more than 6,000 products spread across 14 categories, including home decor, DIY, toys, garden supplies, pet items, stationery and food. Action is known for its “surprise and opportunity” style of shopping, adding around 150 new products every week so that the shelves are constantly changing.

 

Price is a major part of the chain’s appeal. The store is expected to offer over 1,500 items at under €1, and most of the range will sit at an average price of just above €2. That means shoppers can pick up household basics, small gifts and seasonal items without feeling they are spending too much.

 

Beyond the shopping experience, the new Action store is also expected to create a number of direct jobs, giving a small boost to the local labour market. With construction in its final phase and the team finishing the last details, the opening is being watched with interest by many in the area, who see it as a practical way to save money in their day to day lives.

 

For the people of Huércal Overa, the arrival of Action marks another reason to browse the shops in Sector 5, where residents can already find a wide range of big name retailers close to home.
