A cheeky dip: Andalucía’s only inland nudist beach opens for summer
Cuevas del Campo’s Negratín reservoir offers a naturist escape in Granada’s semi-desert landscape

Set in the striking sub-desert landscape of northern Granada, the Negratín reservoir near Cuevas del Campo offers something a little out of the ordinary - a naturist-friendly, freshwater beach with stunning views and crystal-clear water. It’s part of a broader effort by the local council to spruce up the area and welcome visitors for another summer of sun, swimming and serenity.
Mayor Carmen Rocío Martínez confirmed that cleanup and improvement work has now been completed on all beaches in the area, including the naturist zone, to ensure safety and comfort for beachgoers. “This year, the water quality is also extraordinary, making the Negratín even more attractive for those who want to spend a day swimming or relaxing in the heart of nature,” she said.
The reservoir, which is the third largest in Andalucía, has long been a popular inland getaway for locals and tourists alike, offering an alternative to the more crowded coastal spots. The nudist beach, in particular, gives a refreshing twist to the region’s summer offerings.

This Sunday July 13, the Negratín reservoir will also host a stage of the Travesía a Nado (Open Water Swim), with over 300 participants expected to take the plunge in the open-air swimming zone. Just remember, if you’re going for a dip on the nudist side, it’s not just the water that’s transparent!
Whether you’re after peace and quiet, a bit of uninhibited freedom or just looking for somewhere a little less mainstream to cool off and “let loose”, Cuevas del Campo might be the spot to strip back and relax.
