ARCHIVED - 94 per cent drop in Covid hospitalizations across the region of Valencia
The very low number of Covid patients remaining in the hospitals of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia provinces highlights how low the level of Covid is in the region at the moment
Five hospitals in the region have one or no Covid patients and 14 have one or no intensive care patients
The number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 in the Comunidad Valenciana has dropped by 94 per cent since the beginning of 2021 and the number of ICU patients has reduced by 96.5 per cent.
Currently, the region of Valencia has the lowest hospitalization percentage in Spain, at just 1.36 per cent. The region also has the lowest occupancy rate in intensive care units, 4.11 per cent, after the overseas enclave of Melilla.
There are just 40 people in intensive care across the region, according to the official update from May 12, and, in comparison, at the end of January, there were 670 people in ICUs with coronavirus.
Furthermore, in total there are 168 Covid patients hospitalized in the region, compared to the figure of 4,777 reported on January 25.
In addition, 14 hospitals in total in the region have one or no critical Covid patients (in intensive care). Of these centres, seven are in the province of Alicante: Hospital of Marina Baja, General University Hospital of Elche, University Hospital of Torrevieja, Virgen de Los Lirios Hospital, General University Hospital of Elda, Hospital of Denia and the University Hospital of Vinalopó. Five of the hospitals are in the province of Valencia and two are in Castellón.
Five hospital in the region have one or no Covid patients on any ward: General Hospital of Ontinyent, Virgen de Los Lirios Hospital, University Hospital of Vinalopó, General Hospital of Requena and University Hospital of Torrevieja.
The Valencia region continues to report the lowest level of coronavirus in mainland Spain, and as of Wednesday May 12 had only 32.9 cases per 100,000 of population; the national average is 173.78 and the highest levels in the country are in the Basque Country (371 cases per 100,000) and Madrid (277 cases per 100,000).
