40-degree temperatures make a come-back: Spain weather forecast July 14-17
The summery weather returns to Spain this week with sky-high temperatures and plenty of sunshine
Average temperatures expected on Wednesday July 16
A DANA ripped through the northeast of Spain over the weekend, resulting in widespread destruction on Saturday July 12. Thankfully, the weather has started to settle down again and the coming week promises the return of blue skies and high temperatures.
Monday July 14 is forecast to be mostly clear and bright with the exception of the Cantabrian region, where showers and overcast spells will continue. Day-time temperatures will exceed 36ºC in central and southern Spain, with the thermometers tipped to reach 38ºC in large parts of Andalucía, where a yellow heat warning is in effect.

Weather outlook on Monday afternoon
Night-time temperatures will also increase across the board, resulting in a tropical night in most of the country.
The weather will be very similar on Tuesday July 15, with sunny skies and very little rain. Temperatures will generally rise, surpassing 40ºC in the Guadalquivir valley and failing to dip below 20-22ºC in the south on Tuesday night.
The heat alert in Andalucía has been escalated to orange.

Weather outlook on Tuesday afternoon
Wednesday July 16 will be another dry and stable day across much of Spain, with rain only expected in inland Catalonia during the afternoon. Temperatures will inch up across the board.
An orange warning for extreme heat remains in place in Andalucía.

Weather outlook on Wednesday
Scattered showers in eastern Catalonia could reach parts of the Balearic Islands on Thursday July 17 but the rest of the country will remain dry and sunny.
Day-time temperatures will continue to climb in the northern half of Spain and the Canary Islands with few changes expected elsewhere. The mercury is tipped to exceed 38-40ºC in much of the extreme south, although all of the weather alerts have been lifted.
