ARCHIVED - 3M tourists who visited the Costa Blanca this summer plan to return within 12 months, according to survey
55% of those surveyed intend to holiday in the Valencia Region in 2023

This summer saw almost six million tourists spend their long-awaited holiday in the sun on the Costa Blanca, one of the "most desired destinations" according to the national Visitor Satisfaction Survey 2023.
And in a major boost for the region, at least in theory, 55% of those holidaymakers who completed the survey plan to return to the Costa Blanca next year.
The findings of the survey were revealed by Spain's Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, at the II Turespaña Convention this week, during which he said the data reflected an "extraordinary summer" for the tourism sector in Spain which, unlike other countries, "is managing to quickly overcome the slowdown brought about by the pandemic".
The regional data shows that 96% of foreign tourists (5.7 million) who visited the Valencia Region were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied', and as mentioned, more than half plan to return in 2023.
According to the National Institute of Statistics, the Costa Blanca saw a 142% growth in terms of foreign tourists in the first eight months of the year compared to 2021.

In August alone, 1.1 million international tourists were recorded, a growth of 40%, with the majority travelling from the UK. A month earlier, Alicante province was the second most visited province in the country by Spanish tourists.
"Listening to the opinion of our international visitors is indispensable to continue improving. The high level of satisfaction shown by tourists who come to Spain proves the high degree of professionalism and quality of our tourism sector, and should serve as a stimulus for us to continue improving our tourism offer and progressing towards excellence," said Maroto during the conference.
Valencia President, Ximo Puig, was also present, and took the opportunity to assure the Costa Blanca hotel sector that, for the 2023-2024 season, the government will maintain the economic support (five million euros) for the Imserso subsided holidays for the elderly programme "to avoid the seasonal closure of 40 hotels, guaranteeing three thousand jobs".
