ARCHIVED - Alicante flats for sale from just 3,500 euros: find out where the bargain-basement buys can be found
BBVA bank is marketing almost 50 apartments in Alicante province with rock-bottom price tags
Fluctuating house prices and forecasts may understandably perturb many property buyers, particularly those looking to purchase overseas, but overall, investing in bricks and mortar is considered a wise decision that pays dividends over the long term.
Whether it's a forever home, a second property for rental purposes or a holiday getaway, Alicante province is awash with opportunities, from small apartments to luxury villas.
And it's not just the type of property that varies, there are also numerous ways in which to find and buy a dream home in the sun.
In addition to regular estate agents, banks also offer for sale, through their own portals, homes that may be of interest, more often than not repossessions.
This is the case with BBVA which, through Haya Inmobiliaria, periodically publishes properties on its website and is currently marketing apartments from as little as 3,500 euros.
In Alicante province alone, there are currently 46 properties at incredibly low prices located in Alicante city, Elche, Santa Pola, Villajoyosa, Calpe, Cocentaina, Onil, Banyeres, Crevillente and Novelda.

The cheapest BBVA home for sale in the province is in Alicante city in the Nou Alacant neighborhood, and costs a measly 3,500 euros.
The flat covers 55.44m2 with two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room and kitchen. According to the website, "the building is in a state of ruin and boarded up, so it requires comprehensive reform".
Elsewhere, buyers can pick up a semi-detached house for sale in Plaza Pla de la Font in Cocentaina. Built in 1920, the 468m2 property is being advertised at just 4,700 euros.
Considerably more expensive, but considered a "bargain" is an apartment in Villayosa. In fact, it's two apartments joined on a second floor with elevator in the Creueta area. It has a 155m2 floor plan, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small inner courtyard and a larger one outside.
Priced at 179,100 euros, the property is described as being "ideal as a clinic, office, business centre or for large families due to its excellent location".
The second most expensive apartment markted by BBVA is located in Calpe. It offers 108m2 of living space for 172,400 euros.
