ARCHIVED - 54 new covid cases in the last 24 hours: Alicante province Covid update May 20
173 new cases were reported in the Valencia region (Comunidad Valenciana); 33 in Castellón province, 54 in Alicante province and 86 in Valencia province.
In the Alicante province, this is lower than the total communicated on Wednesday, which was 61, but higher than the 47 reported on Tuesday, the figure however, remains very low.
Vaccine situation: The Valencian Community has administered a total of 2,383,124 doses of coronavirus vaccines in the three provinces of the region to date. By provinces: 276,266 have been administered in Castellón province, 877,960 in Alicante province and 1,228,898 in Valencia province.
776,287 people are now fully vaccinated having received either two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca or a single dose of the monodose Janssen vaccine.
The regional president said today that should the vaccination programme continue on its current route, then the vaccination campaign for those in the 40-50 age-group will begin on June 17 and 30-year-olds will be vaccinated in July.
New cases: 173 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed by PCR test or through antigen test in the last 24 hour period, bringing the total number of positives reported to date to 393,079 people.
By provinces, 33 were in Castellón (40,679 in total); 54 in Alicante (147,307 in total); and 86 in Valencia, (205,091 in total.
Hospitals: There are currently 143 people admitted to Valencian hospitals across the three provinces: 25 in the province of Castellón, with 2 patients in ICU; 38 in the province of Alicante, 11 of them in ICU; and 80 in the province of Valencia, 23 of them in ICU.
Recoveries: Since the last update 24 hours ago, 152 patients with coronavirus have been given the all-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries to 395,684 since the pandemic began.
Active cases: This brings the total number of active cases at the moment down to 1,452.
Accumulated incidence rate: Over the last 14 days the region has accumulated 29.66 cases per 100,000 of population, continuing as the region with the lowest rate in the country. In comparison, the highest rate is in the Basque Country where the rate is 252.24 cases per 100,000 followed by 234.37 in Madrid. The national average is 139.89.
Deaths: There have been 4 deaths from coronavirus since the last update, so the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is 7,415: 803 in the province of Castellón, 2,828 in Alicante and 3,784 in Valencia.
