ARCHIVED - Valencia Region begins vaccinating 51 to 59 year olds this week
Valencia regional health authority plans to administer 279,189 doses of the four available vaccines this week in the provinces of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia.
The vaccination of those aged 51 to 59-years-old is underway in the Valencia Region with plans to administer almost 280,000 doses of the four vaccines that are already authorised in the European market by May 24.
While the majority of the Pfizer vaccine (113,875 of the 203,844 doses) has been earmarked for this particular age group, born between 1962 and 1970, the health authority has set aside a reserve to complete the vaccination of those over the age of 66 and people with high-risk conditions.
The plan is to administer 50,340 doses of the Moderna vaccine, and again most will be used to inoculate the 59-51 age group with a small amount set aside for 'high-risk' people.
With regards to the Janssen vaccine, the regional government will distribute 15,005 single doses to the designated age group in the largest vaccination centres, while the AstraZeneca jabs will be given to any 60 to 65-years-olds who have not yet received their first dose.
Appointments will be sent via phone call or message, or accessed through the GVA +Salut application.
Anybody with any doubts or concerns can call 900 300 555 where trained staff can answer any questions relating to the vaccination process.
